Rediscover your rhythm and release stress in this premiere jazz dance workshop! Guided by award-winning Bay Area choreographer Nicole Helfer, you will explore expressive movement combinations in a fun and supportive atmosphere, including tailored warm ups and training and a lot of sweat!

This 4-week workshop builds upon foundational tap skills and will focus on coordination, musicality, and learning new dance vocabulary and sequences. Drop-ins are allowed throughout the workshop. However, participants should be aware that this is a sequenced workshop that progresses in complexity.

This weekly drop-in class is geared toward beginning tap dancers who have learned basic tap vocabulary and want to build upon the fundamental tap skills. Dancers will practice essential tap steps in a variety of rhythmic patterns, including timesteps, riff walks, turns, cramp rolls and many more. Class starts with recurring warm ups that highlight technique and coordination, followed by rhythmic patterns and fundamental tap vocabulary practiced in repetition. Dancers then learn a choreographed routine for 3 consecutive weeks that explores more intricate movement and musicality in the style of classic Broadway.

This ten-week workshop series is for dancers who are brand new to tap dance as well as returning dancers who want a refresher on their basic tap skills. Absolute Beginning Theatre Tap Workshop will focus on developing coordination, musicality, and basic tap dance vocabulary. Dancers will learn a series of warm up exercises and patterns to build technique, rhythm, flexibility and strength. In addition, dancers will learn a dynamic piece of tap choreography in the style of classic Broadway.
